What an awesome day to start blogging! 5 minutes after the girls entered the studio I found out that Maja played with one of my favourite bands – “Current 93″, and also recorded with “Anthony and The Johnsons”. Then Joyce, who is a song-writer and a singer (from jazz to opera) started singing – and it was a real treat!
The video is a warm-up take, using the camera’s mic. The mp3 file has the mixed version.
Final version will be released on the upcoming Sean Agus Nua #2 album.

Recording process
Piano was miced with an omni stereo pair (Rode NT55). At first I thought of recording the vocals with the SE Reflexion filter, but Joyce felt she was too far from the piano, so we put the filter away, moved her next to the piano, and put a gobo behind her.
This felt much more natural, and we were also happy with the sound. We used the Neumann U87 through the Avalon preamp for vocals.
The mix was just adding a bit of reverb with SIR plugin + tiny bit of EQ. For a temporary master I put a little bit of compression and a limiter using T-Racks plugin. The whole thing will be remastered in the context of the full album.
